Price of Carpet Depends on Many Factors

New carpeting adds comfort, warmth and value to your home with several factors such as the carpet type, texture and manufacturer determining the price of carpet installation.  Some of the most important factors to consider when evaluating the price of carpet include the type and style, with many variations ranging from a low-end bargain carpet to a plush expensive style, with popular and more affordable styles in between.
The environment in which the carpet is installed must be taken into consideration when evaluating carpet prices.  A nylon, or loop carpet might be a good choice for a high traffic area such as a children’s room or busy living room.  There are many variations of nylon, olefin and polyester carpeting with a wide range of carpet prices, which make up the majority of residential carpet installations.  These synthetic carpet options offer many choices in texture and style, and it may be worth it to pay a little more now for the right type of carpet that will last for many years.  It is extremely important to purchase from a reputable carpet and flooring company, to ensure the quality of carpet manufacturing will provide the years of comfort you desire.

Get the Best Value for the Price for Carpet Installation

If you’re searching for the best price for carpet installation, you need to call Great Western Flooring Company, the industry leader in beautiful flooring installed professionally, at the best available price.
There are things you can do to try to save yourself some money with a new carpet installation, such as clearing the room of furniture, removing your old carpeting or even preparing your subfloor.  You may want to talk with the professionals before doing these things, however, as it might be extra work on your part when you could have the heavy lifting done professionally at a very fair and affordable price.
If you move your furniture out of the room ahead of time, be very careful with lifting of heavy items such as dressers and beds without asking for assistance.  An injury is not worth moving things by yourself.
Removing Old Carpet
Removing your old carpeting should be done in a particular fashion for ease of removal with the least amount of contaminants exposed into the air.  If you vacuum your old carpeting prior to removal, it will help to cut down on the amount of dust and air contaminants released into the air you breathe.
If attempting to tear out your old carpeting, following a few simple tips can make it more manageable.  Removing old carpeting is easier if you cut it into strips, or sections that you can handle.  You’ll need a utility knife with a new sharp blade (be careful not to cut yourself!), and then begin to cut the carpet and the pad in manageable sections about four-foot wide, then roll them up for easy removal.
Great Western Flooring is experienced at removing old carpet and padding and will dispose of your old carpeting following our green policy and recycling all material.
Preparing Sub-Floor
Preparing your subfloor includes cleaning, removing any lingering staples, and ensuring that it’s level.  This can also be performed by an experienced carpet installation company, ensuring a nice finish with the result that you are looking for.
While it might be tempting to do some things yourself, and there are things that must be prepared ahead of time, consult with a professional carpet installation company to get the best price for carpet installation, including all preparation, leveling and installing.
Great Western Flooring Company is a professional flooring and carpet installation company, incorporating our green philosophy into every process and everything we do.  We remove your old carpet and pad and recycle all materials to save energy and conserve our natural resources.  We take pride in using the latest in technology to contribute to a cleaner environment, preserving valuable energy sources.

What to Look for in a Quality Carpet Installation

While it may not seem particularly difficult to do, it actually takes the right tools, the right knowledge, and a fair bit of experience to properly install wall-to-wall carpeting. Most homeowners understand this fact and choose to have it done professionally. Still, there are a few things to look for when getting your carpet installed.
Superior padding – Not only is the carpet itself important, the padding installed underneath is just as important. The best carpet padding is specifically designed to enhance the comfort of walking on the carpet as well as providing a moisture barrier to protect the carpet. Good quality padding also adds a degree of insulation against heat transfer and noise.
Proper stretching – If you have ever seen carpet being installed, you will have noted the tech using his knee and a specialized tool – known as a stretcher – to fine tune the installation of a carpet. This activity is something of an art and takes some experience – and physical effort – to do well. Expect to see your installers spending most of their time getting this aspect of the job done properly.
No visible seams – It is not always possible to cover an entire room with a single piece of carpet. Instead, pieces will have to be butted up against each other which creates a seam. Expert carpet installers can do this with ease and ensure that there is no “peaking” – when the carpet is pushed too tightly together – or “gapping” – where not enough carpet is used.
Debris removal – The job does not end once the new carpet is installed. The best installation companies will also cart away the debris at no additional charge. It is no small matter as a homeowner would otherwise have to store the old carpet in the garage or outside until their next scheduled “large trash” pick-up day.

Getting Carpet Installed? Look for These Things in a Top-Notch Job

It is only prudent for any homeowner who is having wall-to-wall carpeting installed to know a thing or two about the process. This knowledge will not only ensure that they get a top notch job but also pay an affordable price. Here are a few things to watch for while your contractor completes the work:
First, examine the padding – Good quality carpet padding provides an insulating and comfortable layer between the hard sub-floor and the carpet itself. It also helps to reduce damage from moisture and provides a modicum of noise insulation. It should be at least one quarter inch thick to be most effective, but should not exceed a half inch or it will not do its job properly.
Next, watch the stretchers – Stretchers are actually a piece of equipment used by carpet installers to properly fit the carpet into a particular space. Watch the installers using these tools to get a feel for how competent and comfortable they are with their job. Installing carpet is not particularly difficult but it does take some degree of expertise and experience to do it right.
Finally, examine the seams – In any carpet installation, the seams will ultimately tell the tale of whether or not a good job has been done. If they are too far apart, the seams will be stretched and far apart. If they are pushed too close together, they will rise up in a phenomenon known as “peaking.” Both phenomena are readily identifiable even to a novice.
